Jumping into the New Year

2023 is going to be a great year! To start things off 2023 will be our 10-year anniversary. We want to thank everyone who has been a part of our journey and helped us bless so many families. This January’s Giving Day was a great way to jump into our big year. We handed out 22 beds and were able to bless a total of 21 kids and 13 adults. The weather may have been chilly but it was a beautiful day. Thank you to all of our volunteers and everyone who donated to make this day possible.

No Tricks, just Treats this October

We had a very successful October Giving Day this past Month. We packed Uhauls to the brim for 14 different families and treated them with 30 beds. Thank you for all of your donations that allowed us to put heads in beds. With that very successful Giving Day means that our units are scary low. Help fill them back up by donating at our next Giving Day on November 11th, 2022.

Swinging back into things this September

Our September Giving Day was a successful way for us to get back into the swing of things. We blessed 10 families with 14 beds and much more. Given to 29 people in total, 15 of which were children. We are lucky to have Highpoint Church and Infinity Wellness volunteers to help us during these busy days. Thank you for all of your donations that allow us to put heads in beds. We can’t wait to bless even more families at our next Giving Day on October 14th, 2022.

Putting Heads in Beds – Important Update

With our 10-year anniversary around the corner and based on the needs of the community we are going back to our roots and putting heads in beds. From this moment forward we will no longer be accepting all of the household appliances we have been taking in the past. We will ONLY be accepting Beds and products for our Blessing Bags. This includes mattresses, bed frames, linens, new pillows, and Blessing Bags- bags, feminine products, cleaning supplies, washcloths, laundry detergent, and soap. We hope that with our change we will be able to increase the number of families we serve in the years to come by matching the needs of the community. If you have any questions about our transition please reach out to us at [email protected] or 720-324-7117. Thank you for everyone’s support over the years and we are excited to see what the future brings.

MAY You See Flowers And Blessings Around You

It was a beautiful May morning, the sun was shining and many smiles were spotted all around. With our wonderful volunteers from Highpoint Church lending us a hand, we were able to bless 17 families!

These volunteers were an amazing help and dropped everything to come and help us on such a big day! They assisted in making this Giving Day a wonderful success. We are so blessed to have such incredible volunteers that are always willing to lend a hand when we need it.

As a reminder, we will be breaking for the summer and will resume accepting donations and serving families in August.

68 people were served on our May Giving Day, 47 of them being children. We also gave away 28 beds to bless these families.

Thank you for everyone’s support and donations.

April showers rain blessing on families

We had another successful Giving Day this month. With everyone’s Spring cleaning we were blessed with some awesome donations, such as sheets/blankets, mattresses, dressers, chairs, and much more . With help from our amazing volunteers from High Point Aurora Church and Infinity Wellness Center, we were able to sort these items. They also helped put together many Blessing bags to provide these families with basic household necessities. Thank you for all the donations that we received this month and to anyone who was able to help out. We were able to serve 4 families, a total of 16 people, 11 of which were children, and gave out 4 beds.

Marching Beds Into Homes

We had a truly blessed Giving Day this March. Despite the cold temperatures we were able to serve 45 people, 32 of which were children.  We were able to march 23 beds into homes for 13 different families. With your donations we provided these families with necessary items to make their house a home. Thank you to everyone who volunteered today and anyone who was able to donate!

Freezing Weather Doesn’t Discourage Volunteers, Families

It was a bitter February morning with a blustery wind blowing, but even the cold temperatures could not dampen the spirits of a group of volunteers from Infinity Wellness Center and eight families picking up furniture for their homes.

“Our give days always have the most bitter temperatures,” says Emily Schildt, House of Light Director of Community Involvement. “But those temperatures can’t keep our spirits from being great and our hearts warm.”

The volunteers from Infinity Wellness spent the morning organizing linens and loading furniture and filled the shelves with socks, soap and other items to be used in the blessing bags given to each family.

“We are so grateful for this group of volunteers,” says Schildt. “House of Light could never be the organization it is and serve as many families as we do without our amazing volunteers.”

Eight families were served on the February Giving Day, including 31 people and 20 kids. There were 14 beds given away.

New Year Brings Beds and Furnishings to Nine Families

This is the ninth year for House of Light and this New Year allowed us to bless nine families.

“It is quite fitting that in our ninth year we are serving nine families our first month,” says Brandy Pfalmer, House of Light President. “I have no doubts that number will exponentially grow as we move through the year.”

Last year in 2021, HOL served 78 families, 288 people, 191 kids and gave away 157 beds. Since its inception in 2013, the numbers have continued to grow and the needs in Aurora and surrounding area has increased.

“Since it is our ninth year, I think it would be great if we could serve 99 families this year,” Pfalmer says. “We continue to see more needs, especially within the youth in our community. Beds continue to be our number one need.”
